In 2017, after working for five years as a trained schoolteacher, I was affected by severe stress. As it was the first time I had experienced stress, it felt extremely overwhelming.
The move from Sisimiut to Nuuk was difficult, and at that point I realized that if I wanted to take care of myself, I could not continue working as a teacher in Nuuk.

This is not because I believe that my entire career as a teacher was negative. In Sisimiut, I taught some truly wonderful students, and when we moved to Nuuk, I missed them greatly. When they finished the school year and graduated in the summer, they called us early in the morning, and because they had such good memories of us, I felt deeply grateful to them.

Alongside my work, I was already involved in photography and graphic design at the time. Long before that, I had realized that I both enjoy and am skilled at working with images, graphics, and sound. Therefore, after we moved to Nuuk, I applied to study as a media graphic designer as a backup plan, and I was accepted as an apprentice at Tele Greenland. If circumstances had been better, I might have continued working as a teacher, but given the situation at the time, I decided to begin my education as a media graphic designer.

In August 2017, I traveled alone to Denmark to start my studies in Aarhus, without knowing what would happen or when I would return. As my children were still young at the time, I missed them deeply, and it was emotionally challenging to be away from them for such a long period.

When I started at Aarhus Tech at the age of 30, almost all of my classmates were significantly younger than me, ranging from 16 to 21 years old, although a few were closer to my age or slightly older. I did not compare myself to them, but instead focused on working thoroughly on my assignments. I had not come to Denmark to study without purpose; I wanted to demonstrate responsibility and complete my work with the best possible results. When you care deeply about your profession and want your work to be appreciated, it is essential to show commitment, as well-executed projects may also be seen by future clients.

I completed the media graphic designer program over four and a half years. During this period, I had internships at Tele Greenland, ReneDesign ApS (now RD Marketing Bureau), and Kalaallit Nunaanni Brugseni (my current workplace).

In addition to my internships, I regularly flew to Aarhus Tech to attend classes. Throughout the program, there were many exams, and due to my dedication, I often achieved strong results. I do not mention this to boast, but to emphasize that when you truly enjoy your work, attention to detail comes naturally, you become deeply engaged in your tasks, and this also enhances academic performance.

Now, five years after completing my education, I have been very busy with work, yet I have not experienced stress again like I did during my time as a teacher. I see this as a sign that I genuinely love what I do and that I do not simply let go of it easily.

Here are some selected works from my four and a half years at Aarhus Tech that I would like to present. I hope you will find them interesting to explore.
