The Assiliisa Photo Lab in Maniitsoq has come to a successful close. There were five participants in total. Although I had hoped for a higher turnout, these participants were extremely enthusiastic, which allowed me to spend plenty of quality time teaching them photography.
Most of them work with photography on a daily basis, but they wanted to learn how to take full control of the camera.
Therefore, during this workshop, I presented the camera’s full capabilities using examples and had them try out the most essential tools one by one.
The workshop lasted for three days from 24th to 26th September and covered the following topics:
- Day one: The camera from the ground up, along with practical exercises.
- Day Two: Essential knowledge for portrait photography, plus experimenting with studio equipment and flash units for portraits.
- Day Three: Fundamentals of photo editing, as well as editing photos using a mobile phone.
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to use Assiliisa Photo Lab’s five cameras and various lenses to experience firsthand the wide range of gear available in the world of photography.
These cameras were made available through a grant from GrønlandsBANKEN, so on behalf of Tappiut Design Studio, I would like to extend another warm thank you to GrønlandsBANKEN.
It was clear that the participants are eager to improve and continuously develop their photography skills.
I have no doubt that they left the workshop with renewed drive for photography, as I know from personal experience that a fresh sense of motivation emerges after learning something new and connecting with other photographers.
Here are a few of the lovely photos that some of the participants have agreed to share and showcase:
